ANGEL workshops are held either online or in CT-001, which is located in the basement of the Churchill Tower, opposite the elevators.

Upon confirmation of registration, participants will receive an invitation and reminder in Outlook, which will automatically place the workshop on your calendar. For online workshops, the email will also contain the link to the virtual classroom.

ANGEL Crash Course

Goal: Participants will be able to access ANGEL and utilize basic features
Objectives: Participants will be able to…

  • access the ANGEL log in page.
  • successfully log in to ANGEL
  • locate their courses on their personal home page
  • add a calendar entry within their course
  • add a page item within the course
  • add a file within the course
  • add a folder within the course
  • add an announcement for the course
  • set specific dates for the announcement to appear
  • send an email via ANGEL to a specific student
  • send an email via ANGEL to all students in the course
  • modify start/end dates for student access to the course

ANGEL Gradebook

Goal: Participants will set up the ANGEL gradebook to be consistent with their grading policies
Objectives: Participants will be able to…

  • identify if they are using a points based gradebook or a percentage based gradebook
  • define categories for assignments
  • assign weights to categories (if using percentage based gradebook)
  • configure automatic dropping of lowest XX grades (if applicable)
  • create grading scale, defining numerical break points to correspond to letter grades
  • add simple assignments
  • map assignments to corresponding categories
  • assign point values to assignments
  • enter grades by assignment
  • view all grades
  • enter grades by student
  • print a copy of their gradebook
  • identify the difference between giving a zero and giving no grade
  • change the default display for grades (percentage, points, etc)

ANGEL Drop Boxes & Discussion Forums
Goal: Participants will be able to configure drop boxes and discussion forums to their courses within ANGEL.
Objectives: Participants will be able to…

  • Configure and add a drop box
  • use access dates to control student access to the drop box based on dates and times
  • control the number of submissions a student can make to a drop box
  • control the type of submissions a student can make to a drop box
  • set user review options to allow students to view their own submission or all submissions
  • create an assignment in the gradebook and link the drop box to the assignment
  • identify an appropriate calculation method to be used for the assignment grade.

  • adjust various delivery settings, including time limits
  • restrict access to testing material after student completion
  • link assessment to gradebook
  • Use the Assessment Editor to create questions
